RED WINE CASA DE SANTAR

With a clear appearance, it shows a deep and intense ruby colour. The aroma is dominated by the power of macerated red fruit, blackberry jam, suggesting toasted notes, coffee roast, and balsamic hints from 6 months of aging in barrels. On the palate, it reveals silkiness and a strong presence of ripe fruit, displaying the elegance of a versatile and complete wine. At the table, it pairs well with regional meat dishes, cured meats, game, baked fish, or dense and strong cheeses.

• Grape Varieties: 50% Aragonez, 30% Touriga Nacional, 20% Alfrocheiro
• Ageing: 6 months in second-use French oak barrels
• Aromas: Intense notes of red fruit jam, toasted nuances, and subtle spicy hints

WHITE WINE CASA DE SANTAR

With a bright and crystalline appearance, it shows a citrine colour with slight greenish hints. The aroma is rich, revealing tropical exuberance with notes of mango, stone fruit, peach, and citrus. On the palate, its youth and freshness stand out, balanced with defined acidity, finishing vibrant and persistent. Ideal to pair with lightly seasoned Asian dishes, harmonising perfectly with sushi, sashimi, fish tartare, and white meats.

• Winemaking: Total destemming, gentle pneumatic pressing, natural static clarification, and alcoholic fermentation at 18°C

Casa de Santar wines have a long-standing historical connection with winemaking. Founded at the end of the 18th century, it is one of the most iconic wineries in the Dão region. These wines are recognised for their tradition, authenticity, and nobility, qualities that make this Dão brand so special and renowned for over 200 years of history.

Next to the Casa de Santar winery, several hectares of vineyards can be seen on the horizon, a rare sight in this part of the country.
The most prestigious plot in Santar is the Vinha dos Amores, a hillside with unique soil and sun exposure characteristics, where the finest Encruzado and Touriga Nacional grapes are cultivated. It is in this terroir that some of Portugal’s most elegant wines were born, earning high scores and awards from national and international critics.
