Farofa is a savory dish used as an accompaniment, its main ingredient is cassava flour or cornflour, or even the combination of the two, usually passed in fat and added with several other ingredients, such as corn, bacon, eggs, smoked sausage, onion, banana, kale, raisins.

It emerged among the Indians, is one of the oldest recipes of Brazilian national cuisine. They say it was created with the purpose of replacing the seasoning in the food. It is considered a carbohydrate, so it is a source of energy.
